Morphe 35P Palette Review

Back in December my brother was up for a visit so we took him out, as we usually do, for some shopping. As we walked by the Show Case Canada store his attention was drawn to their hover board trial signage. He decided he wanted to give their hover board a whirl and in he went. As I sat outside waiting for him I noticed a large sign in their window announcing they were now carrying Morphe Brushes. I was intrigued and made a mental note to check it out.

A few weeks later I finally remembered to check out their website to see what Morphe products they were carrying and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were they selling Morphe brushes they were also selling Morphe cosmetics products.

Prior to Show Case Canada no other Canadian retailer stocked Morphe brushes or cosmetics so to say that I was excited was a bit of an understatement. I had been eyeing some Morphe palettes for a few months but had yet to actually place an order due to international shipping hesitations. FINALLY, there was somewhere that carried Morphe palettes so I could see and test them out before I purchased one!!!

The next time I was in the area I stopped in to see the palettes and was a bit underwhelmed for two reasons. The first was that they had taped clear protective film over the palettes making it impossible for you to test/swatch the colours. For sanitary reasons I understand why they did this but I was still disappointed. The second was that they had maybe three or four palettes available in store. I decided I would sleep on my decision and circle back to it.

A few weeks later I decided I was going to go ahead and buy a palette and in I went to make my selection. I was excited to see there were now more palettes on display. The one that immediately caught my eye was the 35P palette. I had originally gone in planning to purchase the 35OS palette, but instantly changed my mind at the sight of the 35P. Those beautiful rich plum & purple tones were just too much for me to resist!

The actual products are kept behind the counter so I kindly asked the two lovely ladies working that day for a Morphe 35P palette and one of them replied "I think we have that one in". My heart immediately sank. What if they didn't? Would I settle for the 35OS and wait for the 35P? Walk out empty handed and wait for the 35P? One of them ducked behind the counter and began to check their stock. I chatted away with the other clerk who informed me they had just signed a contract with Morphe in late 2016 to carry their products and they had actually just recently found the time to set up the full display due to the pre and post holiday craze.

Luck was on my side and they had one in stock! I almost did a small happy dance right there but managed to contain myself...just barely. I paid for my purchase and beelined it to the closest exit and immediately headed for home.

Obviously, the first thing I did when I got home was tear into my palette with the unrestrained gusto of a small child on Christmas morning. I swooned and gushed for probably about a good hour testing out the various gorgeous shades in the palette. Then it was time to take it out for a test drive!!!! There are so many beautiful shades in this palette that I found it difficult to choose which ones I wanted to play with first. I eventually settled on some vivid purple shadows and was instantaneously impressed with the quality, pigmentation, and texture of the shadows.

I've had a while to play with this palette now (this post is long overdue - Sorry!) and it is has quickly become one of my favourite palettes. I have used it to create a number of looks including these fairy tale inspired lids pictured below.

The wide range of colours represented in this palette allow you to create countless eye looks. Including softer looks such as the neutral smokey eye pictured below.

The shadows have minimal to zero fallout with the exception of one shade. In my personal experience this one shadow is a complete and utter disappointment. It is one of the first shades in the palette that I fell in love with at first sight and it is simply disastrous. It also looks very different in the pan than when applied as you can see below.

The first time I used it there was so much fallout that I ended up looking like I had lost a bar brawl. Believe it or not that was not the look I was going for. Shocking right?

The swatches of this palette are simply gorgeous! However: I do wish the shadows had been assigned names as I find it easier to recall which shades I used to create certain looks. It's nothing major and definitely won't deter me from purchasing additional Morphe palettes that's for sure.

Here's my final verdict:

Morphe 35P Palette

Cannot live without!
